Resolution of Arithmetic and Geometric Sequences at the Primary and Secondary Educational Levels

Abstract

The objective of this article is to differentiate the didactic treatment that is carried out in the content of successions both at the primary and secondary levels; in said topic, a fine job is to arrive at mathematical modeling. The present research work was developed at the Federal Urban Normal School of Chilpancingo, Guerrero, Mexico, with 27 students who built formulas of arithmetic and geometric sequences based on the problems of the free textbooks of primary education of third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades. The main result of the modeling was the following formulas:  y , from which different values can be calculated without going in ascending order, as is done arithmetically. Regarding the achievement of learning, 92.5 % of the students managed to specify the construction of the mathematical models.
