Abstract

Music and technology have become modern teaching resources in the process of acquiring a second language. Inside and outside the classroom, they represent an evolution of the teaching and learning processes. Multiple studies have shown the different advantages of this combination of resources in cognitive, affective and social aspects to optimize the teaching-learning process of a second language. In this study, two mobile applications that offer to practice the English language with songs were analyzed, considering theories of both general learning and learning a second language. It was determined that the use of music through technology has grammatical, vocabulary, pronunciation and intonation benefits. It also influences perception, attention, motivation, relaxation and memory. It was concluded that the use of music and technology stimulates actions and behaviors that strengthen the acquisition of linguistic elements, improves students' willingness to learn and promotes the natural use of the language studied.
